The Challenge

This project began as a straightforward task, focusing on paving and landscaping to create a sleek, modern garden design. However, unexpected changes turned it into a technical challenge, requiring precise work to meet the updated requirements. The clients wanted a space that felt grand and seamless with the architecture, so our goal was to blend the garden elements in a way that looked as if they had always been part of the original design.

The Garden Design and Creation

We installed a striking black slate patio as the centrepiece, complete with granite bullnose steps that lead up to the house. The steps and patio were framed by two rendered planter-benches, enhancing the garden’s symmetry and creating a sense of elegance. These benches, crafted from beautiful cedar wood, added warmth and contrast to the slate and granite, creating a balanced, modern look.

The clients chose to take on the planting themselves, filling the beds with fragrant chives that add a soft, aromatic touch to the space. With the cedar benches and sleek patio, the final result is both functional and stylish, seamlessly blending with the home’s design as if it were always intended to be there.

The New Garden Landscape

The completed garden now boasts a timeless, sophisticated look. The slate patio, cedar wood accents, and custom planter-benches create a cohesive, elegant space. The result is a garden that feels both modern and integrated with the existing architecture, providing a beautiful and relaxing outdoor area for the clients to enjoy.
