The Grove

The Challenge

As one of the first projects we took on as Utopia, The Grove has a special place in our hearts. This new-build garden started as a blank canvas, lacking any character or personality. The clients wanted a simple, low-maintenance design that would bring life and structure to the space. Our goal was to blend hard and soft landscaping to create a garden that felt both welcoming and effortless to maintain.

The Garden Design and Creation

To start, we laid an extended patio using Raj Green Sandstone, which also formed a pathway through the garden. This natural stone provides a lovely warm tone and complements the soft landscaping elements. We installed raised planters to add depth and dimension, bordered with neat metal edging to keep the plant beds well-defined and tidy.

The highlight of the design is the wildflower turf, which adds a splash of colour and movement, creating a dynamic contrast with the solid lines of the patio. In the centre of this area, a feature shrub brings focus to the garden, serving as a subtle focal point amongst the wildflowers. This combination of materials and textures delivers a balanced aesthetic that makes the garden both functional and visually appealing.

The New Garden Landscape

The completed garden strikes a beautiful balance between hard and soft landscaping, providing a low-maintenance, inviting space. With the sandstone patio, vibrant wildflower turf, and raised planters, The Grove is now full of character and charm. The clients are thrilled with the transformation, and this garden remains one of our favourite projects for its simplicity and timeless appeal.
